Yellow Ribbon Rock Foundation
We see them almost every day on the back windows and bumpers of automobiles, big rigs and sometimes the occasional motorcycle. They are the stickers and magnets that say "Support Our Troops." Sometimes they are in the shape of yellow ribbons; sometimes American flags. Some are brand new, some are weathered, peeling off the metal or glass. We see them so often it's easy to tune them out. There is a true message sent by these stickers and magnets and some of these simple placards mean the world to a mother, wife, sister, dad, husband or brother who supports their military member who is serving this nation abroad.
On April 17th, 2010 Almost Friday hosted the Yellow Ribbon Rock Festival in Salem, Oregon. Almost Friday in association with the Oregon National Guard and RYFO Productions, held this event in honor of all those who serve or have served our country through military service.
Four rock bands entertained the nearly four hundred fans in attendance. Taking the stage first was Najallyan, an aggressive heavy metal act. Najallyan’s front man, Tom has a brother that was wounded in combat in Iraq. Najallyan finished their set with a crowd rising rendition of the National Anthem. Following Najallyan was Sandvig, a local trio that covered 80’s popular hits from Poison to Def Leppard.
Third to take the stage was The Misery Science from Portland, OR. A quintet dressed in all black suits excited the crowd with a modern grunge sound and rolling light shows. Criss, the front man said, “we were excited to be invited by Almost Friday to do this show for wounded Soldiers. It was a great night of rock n roll and the fan support was incredible.”

The final act of the night was the event host, Almost Friday. Taking the stage under laser lights and clouds of smoke, Almost Friday rocked the house for two hours. Performing songs from their two albums, Almost Friday kept the crowd energized with their radio style, heart pounding music.
The Yellow Ribbon Rock Festival brought rock n roll fans and bands together for a great night of entertainment. Twelve hundred dollars was raised from proceeds that went directly to the families of Wounded Soldiers and their families.
